We have brushfires in Alsip and Bridgeview (Cook County), Pembroke (Kankakee county, I work in Kankakee county) and now in Dekalb. Like I get that it’s nowhere near as bad as the fires in California but we never get these kinds of blazes here in Illinois. At least not this many in one afternoon.

Wow I didn’t know that, but it’s been a dry spring. Toss in some warmth (finally!) and some wind, and here we go.

we’re under a “Red Flag Warning” in SE Mich; apparently not because of dryness (we’ve had a decent amount of rain and everything is green) but because the low humidity and high winds can cause fires to spread fast, especially from structure to structure.

We got 11" of rain last year. Total. This is less than usual but not by much. The fire bans were insane.

We had to evacuate work yesterday here in Michigan because of an encroaching brush fire so it’s not just you

Wasn’t bad. The actual building fire we had in Feb. was way more of a problem and the lock-down due to the murder down the street last year was way scarier. Yesterday we got to leave early, basically an adult snow day.

was at the fireworks last night and noticed a huge black/gray plume of smoke coming from about where my house was looking up at the mountains.  that felt awesome.  Thankfully it was put out quickly and was still south of me.
